NFL Betting Predictions: New Orleans Saints at Jacksonville Jaguars

This Sunday at 1pm Eastern, the New Orleans Saints (2-1) travel to take on the Carolina Panthers(1-2). BetDSI.eu sportsbook http://betdsi.com/live-lines/football currently have the Saints as a -6 1/2 point favorite over the Jaguars.

Last week the Jacksonville Jaguars offense under rookie QB Blaine Gabbert’s first start was certainly a rocky one. Gabbert completed 12 passes on 21 attempts for 139 yards, a TD and INT. However it is tough to tell how much of his performance was affected by the monsoon like rains. RB Maurice Jones-Drew tore it up on 24 carries for 122 yards. The receiving core has always lacked big play-makers and this could be a problem for the rookie QB Gabbert moving forward. The Jags offense fumbled the ball a ridiculous 5 times last game , you could chalk this up to the rain however the Panthers did not put the ball on the ground even once in the same conditions.

The Jaguars defense were not bad last week allowing only 16 points on only 265 total yards. The defense allowed 107 rushing yards and only 158 passing yards to rookie QB Cam Newton. The defense had gotten to the young QB Newton one time in the game but did not register a single sack , as that one time Newton used his strong body and arm to get the ball away with a gang of opposing jerseys pulling him down. They did not even manage to exploit a ” rookie mistake ” from the young Newton as they did not grab a single interception.

The New Orleans Saints offense were involved in a shoot-out last week against the Houston Texans , and my word what a fun game it was to watch. QB Drew Brees threw 2 interceptions but one was due to a miscommunication with his receiver. Bree’s threw an amazing 31 completions on 44 attempts for 370 yards , 3 TD’s, showing he is one of the very best in the league. First round pick RB Mark Ingram displayed some of his bowling ball like tendencies running 9 times for 38 yards and a TD. Smallest player in the NFL Darren Sproles is such a spark plug for this offense he ran 2 times for 35 yards a TD , and also had 6 receptions for 50 yards. Also did I mention this guy Sproles returns kicks …. small man huge heart !

Not much I can say about the Saints defense in this one , it is almost like they were never on the field last week giving up 33 points to the Texans , they are just lucky to have a QB the caliber of Drew “Cool” Brees where you can win the game falling behind by a large margin, if the opposing team does not play hard ALL 4 quarters. The defense managed 2 sacks and an interception.

My Prediction: The Saints giving up only 6 1/2 points to a rookie QB who is in his 2nd start is just money in the bank. I dont see the Jags winning or even keeping this one remotely close.

Also worth mentioning is that Saints Defensive Co-rdinator Gregg Williams has some of the nastiest blitz packages in the league , I think he will make this game hell for Jaguars rookie QB Blaine Gabbert.
