NFL Betting Predictions: New York Giants at New England Patriots
Sunday will be the first game between the two since the Superbowl XLII matchup The New England Patriots (5-2) and the New York Giants (5-2). BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines have the Patriots as a large -8 1/2 point favorites over the Giants.
Last week against the Steelers the New England Patriots offense was not performing at the level they are accustomed too, as they only put up 17 points against the tough Pittsburgh defense. Patriots QB Tom Brady went 24/35 for 198 yards and 2 TD’s, but it wasent enough as the Pats defense stunk up the joint. New England also had absolutely no running attack in this game, RB Kevin Faulk was the best back on the day with 6 attempts for 32 yards.
The Patriots defense was tore up by Pittsburgh’s QB Ben Roethlisberger as he had 365 yards and 2 TD’s on the day. The Pats defensive woe’s didn’t stop there, they also allowed 98 total running yards, for a total of 427 yards on the day. Head coach Bill Belichick is a defensive mastermind who usually makes due with whatever he has, however this awful roster on defense may come back to bite him come playoff time.
The New York giants offense has been coming into their own the past two weeks, with QB Eli Manning really finding a groove. Last week against the Dolphins the Giants put up 20 points, with Manning going 31/45 for 349 yards and 2 TD’s. Little known 2nd year wideout Victor Cruz has been putting in work this season, last week he had 7 catches for 99 yards and a TD. The running game wasent really there for the Giants, Ahmad Bradshaw had the best game between the RB’s, running 10 times for 50 yards.
The first quarter the Dolphins QB Matt Moore gave the Giants defense some issues. After that it was all the Giants defense controlling the game, as they allowed 246 total yards, 145 rushing, and 101 passing for only 3 points in the second half. New York had 5 total sacks against Miami, and also had an interception.
My Prediction: Usually after the Patriots lose a game away, then come back home, they smash on the opposition. This is a tough betting situation, I dont see New York winning. However a Giants team that has been playing good, getting 8 1/2 points sounds like a winner to me.
