NFL Betting Predictions: Pittsburgh Steelers vs Carolina Panthers
Thursday night at 7pm Eastern, the Pittsburgh Steelers travel to Bank Of America Stadium to take on the Carolina Panthers. BetDSI.eu sportsbook currently have the Panthers as a -3 point favorite over the Steelers.
The Carolina Panthers offense has been abysmal this preseason and with youth at QB and at the back up QB postion it is going to be a long tough year for Carolina fans. The Panthers offense has generated per game averages of only 14 points, 248 total yards, 155 passing yards, and 92 rushing yards. Last week in a 24-13 loss to the lowly Bengels, Panthers rookie QB Cam Newton played like an overwhelmed rookie. Newton only completed 6 of 19 passes for 75 yards no TD’s no INT’s. Jimmy Clausen has been awful this preseason and last game throwing 4 completions on 7 attempts for 35 yards. The running game was equally as awful with QB Cam Newton actually leading the team in rushing with 4 attempts for 49 yards and a TD.
Nothing good at all can be said about the Panthers defense as they made Bengels rookie QB Andy Dalton who has had vast trouble all preseason look like a viable starting QB completing 11 passes on 17 attempts for 130 yards and a TD pass. They also allowed 10+ yard runs by 4 different RB’s and a QB Bruce Gradkowski, that just has bad news written all over it for the Carolina Panthers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has been effective at putting up points but not so affective gaining yardage as they have averaged per a game 21 points, 303 total yards, 195 passing yards, and 107 yards rushing. Ben Roethlisberger played great last week against the Atlanta Falcons completing 11 passes on 16 attempts for 214 yards and 2TD’s. Antonio Brown had a career game unfortunately in a preseason game as he put up had 4 catches for an insane 137 yards 2 TD’s with one going 77 yards for a TD. Unfortunately for the Steelers the running game was virtually non-existant, as Jonathan Dwyer led the team with just 6 carries 36 yards 28 of which came on one play.
The Steelers defense showed up to play last week against the Falcons allowing only 16 points and stuffing Atlanta’s running game so badly that QB Matt Ryan had to take to the air an insane (for a preseason game) 42 times completing only 22 of them for 220 yards a TD and an INT. The Steelers also had an interception on Falcons QB Chris Redman putting their INT total at two on the day.
My Prediction: How in the world are the Steelers receiving +3 point against the lowly Panthers? I think this line may have moved while typing this up. Get your money in fast on the Steelers +3 before that line gets to moving. Want a few extra bucks? Drop the friggin house, kids college funds, and the dogs vet and grooming money on the Steelers for the win as they are not losing to the lowly Panthers even if they were to start their practice squad all day.
