NFL Betting Predictions: San Diego Chargers at New York Jets
The New York Jets offense had a hell of a time in the first half in their last matchup on Monday night football against the Miami Dolphins. The Jets offense did not record a first down until a few minutes into the second quarter. QB Mark Sanchez ended up throwing 14 completions on 25 attempts for 201 yards and a TD not making a mistake in throwing any interceptions. The Jets have still yet to pick up their very important running game with both Shonn Greene and LaDainian Tomlinson averaging 3.5 and 3.6 yards respectively.
The Jets defense locked the sub-par Dolphins offense down almost completely. CB Darrelle Revis had 2 interceptions, one of which was returned 100 yards for this years longest interception return. The run defense which has been struggling this year allowed the Miami Dolphins 118 rushing yards, which most were earned by RB Reggie Bush on his 10 carries.
The San Diego Chargers offense have been racking up points this season, and have a much more impressive record than last year sitting at 4-1 so far. QB Phillip Rivers last week against the Bronco’s threw 18 completions on 29 attempts for 1 TD and 1 INT. Rivers has thrown more interceptions than expected so far this season throwing (7) which is one more than he has touchdowns ( 6 ). RB Ryan Matthews is continuing his break-out season last week rushing 24 times for 125 yards and breaking one for a 36 yard gain.
This Charger defense still can hardly stop the run, last week they allowed the Broncos a sick 7 yards per a rushing attempt. However the secondary played well as they only allowed 113 passing yards, granted this is against the likes of QB’s Kyle Orton and Tim Tebow. It is still an accomplishment none the less and something for the Chargers defense to build upon.
My Prediction: If the Jets are to ever run game moving this is the game for them against the Chargers who cannot stop RB’s. While if the Chargers defense are to ever stop the run and build upon that this is the game for them.
I think the explosive offense of the Chargers will win this one on the road against the Jets team that is desperate for another win to make it two in a row. The Jets defense have just about been their best offense as of lately , and if Chargers QB Phillip Rivers can keep from throwing a nasty interception or two then the I believe the Chargers will win this one.
