NFL Betting Predictions: San Francisco 49ers vs Denver Broncos
Tonight the San Francisco 49ers travel to Mile High Stadium to take on the Denver Broncos in the third week of preseason football. BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines display the Broncos as -1 point favorites over the Niners.
Bronco’s QB Peyton Manning has not looked like his old self with no touchdowns and three interceptions in 30 attempts this preseason. He does however sport a nice 66.7% completion rate, but they have not been the most difficult of throws, nothing any NFL QB shouldn’t make on a regular basis.
Backing Manning up will be two sub-par QB’s in Brock Osweiler and Caleb Hanie both of whom sport only a 50% completion rate should receive a good amount of snaps in tonights match-up as the Broncos are indicating they may not risk Peyton’s health on extra preseason snaps. The Broncos running back’s have not been explosion either with all of them having around a 3 yards per carry average.
San Francisco QB Alex Smith is showing in the preseason why last year may not have been a fluke. Keeping his attempts low (12) and his completion rate high (63%) he has been playing good mistake free football. It is no secret the Niners will play a run heavy ball control offense, so far this preseason it has worked great giving them the most rushing yards so far in the preseason.
Apart from maybe having the better running game by far, San Francisco may also have the better backup quarterback than the Broncos with second year QB Colin Kaepernick who has not been slinging it great but has made some huge plays on his feet.
Betting Prediction: Any team marching Caleb Hanie on the field for any reasonable amount of snaps justifies a play on the other side. The Denver Broncos offense just has not been effective, while the 49ers possess one of the nastiest running attacks in the league. Look for the Niners to control this game from start to finish with better running and their starting QB Alex Smith playing longer.
