NFL Betting Predictions: San Francisco 49ers vs San Diego Chargers
Thursday at 10pm Eastern, The San Francisco 49ers take on the San Diego Chargers at Qualcomm Stadium. BetDSI.eu sportsbook currently have the Chargers as a -3 point favorite against the 49ers.
The San Francisco 49er’s offense has been hands down the worst in the league averaging per a game 9 points, 247 total yards, a ridiculously low 103 passing yards, but a very high 143 yards per game rushing. If it wasn’t for a bunch of running backs you never heard of carrying this offense, there would be nothing good to write about for the 49ers. About the best thing you can say about the 49er’s offense is that they have recently resigned RB Frank Gore to a 3 year deal. While running for their lives not one San Francisco QB has thrown a TD this preseason with both starting QB Alex Smith and rookie Colin Kaepernick hovering around the 35.0 QB rating this season could get really ugly for San Francisco. Also QB Andy Lee has passed the rock once in this preseason for a interception, bringing the 49er’s interception total to 5 on the preseason.
The 49er’s defense has almost been equally as bad, I am sorry 49er fans there really is just nothing good to write about this team at the moment, but I will give it a go……. ok nevermind there is simply nothing good to write about for this team.
The San Diego Chargers this preseason have not been eating up insane yardage however have been putting up decent points as they average per a game 23 points, 298 total yards, 213 passing yards, and 84 rushing yards. San Diego QB Phillips Rivers played well last week throwing for 18 completions on 28 attempts for 198 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT. Chargers back up Billy Volek stole the game from the Cardinals completing 9 passes on 17 attempts for 123 yards and a TD. The Chargers running game has not been good at all this preseason, Ryan Matthews led the team in rushing last week with 10 attempts for 69 yards which would have been good if 48 of the yards didn’t come on one play.
The Chargers defense has not been good this preseason and was even worse last week against the Cardinals as they allowed a combined 285 yards in the air and 2 TD’s. They were even ran all over to the tune of 167 yards rushing and a TD on the ground.
My Prediction: The Chargers backup QB Billy Volek is arguably better than the 49er’s starter Alex Smith. I don’t see the San Francisco coming close in this game making the Chargers at -3 a good bet.
