NFL Betting Predictions: San Francisco 49ers vs St. Louis Rams
Sunday night in the last week of the NFL 2012 regular season action we got the San Francisco 49ers traveling to take on the St. Louis Rams. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines show the San Francisco 49ers as huge -10 1/2 point favorites over the St. Louis Rams.
Last week the San Francisco 49ers chalked another win 19-17 against the Seahawks in what has been an amazing turn around season for them. Under new coach Jim Harbaugh this 49er team has gone 12-3 thus far and will look to ride high into the playoffs for the first time in years with a win against the Rams although most starters may sit as they have locked their spot and home field advantage. Against the Seahawks QB Alex Smith threw 14 completions on 26 attempts for 179 yards. RB Frank Gore had 23 carries for 83 yards and a touchdown, while Ken Hunter had 12 carries for 73 yards. Michael Crabtree led San Fran in receiving with 5 catches for 85 yards.
The niners defense was stout as usual against Seattle giving up only 17 points on 265 total yards, 124 rushing, and 141 passing. Linebacker Navarro Bowman led the team in tackles with 12 and also had a sack. LB Larry Grant was not far behind with 11 tackles and a sack as well, and also forced a fumble. Four different 49er defensemen had sacks on the day against the Seahawks.
The St Louis Rams have had an abysmal season in which they will probably see their head coach Steve Spagnulo fired after the final game, and their rookie 1st overall pick QB has shoed little signs of being a franchise QB this season. Last week they were shutout 27-0 against a Steelers team without their QB Ren Roethlisberger. Rams QB Kellen Clemens led the offense and only mustered 9 completions on 24 attempts for 91 yards. RB Steven Jackson continues to play hard in meaningless games having 24 carries for 103 yards.
Nothing god can be said of the St Louis Rams defense, they were dismantled by a team without their starting QB showing absolutely no signs of being able to stop the run allowing 169 total rushing yards. They let up 377 total yards on the day, 208 of which were passing yards. Only one person made a play all game against the Steelers and that was CB Josh Gordy who had an interception.
My Prediction: The NFL will show the St Louis Rams mercy by ending their season after their next game against the San Francisco 49ers. I like the niners to win here obviously, however I do not like them at this high spread for this reason. I do not believe San Francisco will start or play their starters very long in this meaningless game against the St Louis Rams, leaving them with a rookie QB they will want to see some experience on.
