NFL Betting Predictions: Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings look to improve their record to 6-2 when they play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-4) at home in Thursday nights nationally televised matchup. BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines display the Vikings as -6 ½ point favorites over the traveling Bucs.
Minnesota has looked like a completely new team this season. With second year QB Christian Ponder playing like a star in the making they look to be playoff contenders this year. However in their 21-14 victory at home over the Cardinals last week, the tough Arizona defense gave Ponder all sorts of trouble. Throwing 8 completions on 17 attempts for only 58 yards a touchdown and two picks it was his worst game of his career.
Running back Adrian Peterson picked his QB up with 23 attempts for 153 yards and a score. Vikings defense also came through with a ridiculous seven sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble. DE Brian Robinson had a game DE’s dream of with 8 tackles and three sacks. Jared Allen on the opposite side of the line is still terrorizing NFL QB’s, he had two sacks.
Although the Tampa Bay Buccaneers record is a lackluster 2-4, they have played much tougher this year than last. QB Josh Freeman after coming off a season where he regressed terribly with 16 TD to 22 interceptions is playing much better in 2012.
Last week against the Saints Freeman went 24/42, for 420 yards, and three touchdowns no interceptions. Running back Doug Martin had one of his better days with 16 carries 85 yards and a score. Vincent Jackson had a career day chewing up the Saints defense with 7 catches, 216 yards, and a touchdown.
While the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been playing tough all season, I expect another loss by a touchdown on the road to the Minnesota Vikings. However the Bucs have only lost two games by 7 or more points this season and that was to the Giants and Saints. The Vikings while improved and a really good team at this point, are not quite at that level yet.
The Vikings have shwon the ability to win even if young QB Ponder struggles like last week. With a stout defense and arguably the best running back in the league Adrian Peterson. I do expect Vikings QB Ponder to play better this week at home, and help his team beat the Buccaneers. Just not by more than 6 1/2 points.
