NFL Betting Predictions: Tennessee Titans at Cleveland Browns
Sunday at 1pm Eastern, the Cleveland Browns (2-1) host the traveling Tennessee Titans (2-1). BetDSI sportsbook Live Lines currently have this game as evenly matched with either team the Tennessee Titans or the Cleveland Browns sitting at -110.
The Tennessee Titans offense last week was running really well, even with their best RB Chris Johnson in a rut, and receiving threat WR Kenny Britt injured early and now listed as out for the season with a MCL and ACL tear. The Titans have been winning close games, and staying very competitive all 4 quarters of each game. QB Matt Hasselbeck has been on a tear of sorts, after being discarded by the Seahawks in the offseason has found a new home on this Titans team playing really good and controlling the game. Hasselbeck last week against the Denver Broncos threw 27 completions on 36 attempts for 311 yards and 2 TD’s. The running game has not showed up all year with Chris Johnson running for a combined 90 yards in the first 3 games.
The Titans defense has been playing tough all year keeping games close so their offense can do just enough to pass their opponents. Last week against the Bronco’s they only allowed 231 total yards, a very low 59 rushing, and a stingy 179 passing. The D got to the QB last week for a sack but really shined with 2 clutch interceptions that changed the game.
The Cleveland Browns offense last week (with exception of their final drive) did not look impressive against the Miami Dolphins. QB Colt McCoy threw only 19 completions out of 39 (and a few were some circus catches) for 210 yards, 2 TD’s and 1 INT. The running game did not show up to play as with star RB Peyton Hillis injured back up RB Montario Hardesty ran the ball 14 times for 67 yards. WR Josh Cribbs had a ridiculous jumping catch for a 33 yard TD, and WR Mohamed Massaquoi had a 14 yard TD catch to win the game on the Browns final drive.
The Browns defense was absolutely rugged and distruptive last week as they hit Dolphins QB Chad Henne all day for 5 sacks, grabbed an interception , and forced a fumble. They allowed a total of 369 yards, 138 rushing, and 231 passing, but kept the Dolphins out of the endzone most of the day. DT Ahtyaba Rubin was a monster in the middle grabbing 8 tackles and a sack.
My Prediction: This most certainly should be a close game, but with the presence of Titans QB Matt Hasselbeck who seems to have a chip on his shoulder after being ousted by the Seahawks, I think the Titans will pull out a win on the road in this one. I also think Titans struggling star RB Chris Johnson gets back on track in this game and puts on a show.
