NFL Betting Predictions: Tennessee Titans vs Houston Texans
Happy New Years, today the Tennessee Titans take to the road in hopes of keeping their wild card hopes alive against the Houston Texans. BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the Tennessee Titans a -130 favorites giving up -2 points to the Houston Texans.
Under first year coach Mike Munchak the Tennessee Titans finished 5-3 at home and have the chance to post their first winning record since 2008. Last week they grabbed a 23-17 win over the Jaguars to snap a two game losing streak. QB Matt Hasselbeck certainly struggled throwing 24 completions on 40 passes for 350 yards a touchdown and 2 interceptions. RB Chris Johnson staying consistent with his terrible year had 15 carries for only 56 yards and caught no passes to help his day. TE Jared Cook was a huge reason the Titans won the game against the Jags as he had 8 receptions 169 yards and a touchdown.
The Tennessee Titans defense wasen’t great as they struggled to put away a weak Jacksonville team. The Titans defense gave up 300 total yards, 187 passing, and 113 rushing. Few big plays were made on the defensive side of the ball, DE Derrick Morgan led the team with 7 tackles a very impressive feat for a defensive lineman. FS Michael Griffin had two tackles and the teams only interception while DE Karl Klug had the teams only sack.
The Houston Texans lost last week 19-16 to the Colts who have now won back to back games. Texans rookie QB T.J. Yates showed impressive control of the ball throwing 13 completions on 16 passes for 132 yards no interceptions, however he just could not get his team in the endzone. RB Arian Foster ran 23 times for 158 yards and a score, also had 3 catches for 16 more yards. Kicker Neil Rackers had a busy day hitting 3 out of 3 field goal attempts.
Houston’s defense couldn’t stop the onslaught of Indianapolis field goals and succombed in the fourth quarter when the Colts were finally able to score a touchdown. Linebacker Brian Cushing was all over the field making 12 tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles. LB Connor Barwin also had 3 tackles and a sack, and in all the Texans defense held the colts to only 1/5 in the redzone.
My Prediction: The Tennessee Titans will be looking to win against the Houston Texans to keep their slim playoff hopes alive as they need help from some teams. On the other note the Titans will probably be playing their starters as they have just recently inserted a rookie passer into their system for injured Matt Schaub and will need the much needed preparation and would like to be coming into the playoffs on a high note.
