NFL Betting Preview: New York Giants vs San Francisco 49ers
Today the New York Giants (6-2) will travel to Candlestick Park to take on the San Francisco 49ers (7-10). BetDSI Sportsbook current Live Lines display the 49ers as a -230 favorite giving up -4 points to the Giants.
Head Coach Jim Harbaugh has this San Francisco 49ers team playing incredible heading into this game on a six game winning streak. Last week the San Francisco 49ers beat the Redskins 19-11. RB Frank Gore set a franchise record for five 100 yard games in a row, running 19 times for a 107 yards. QB Alex Smith played surprisingly well all season, against Washington he went 17/24 for 200 yards and a TD. The only thing you can tell this offense to do better would be move the chains on 3rd down, they only converted 3 out of 12 for a 25% conversion rate.
The rock steady defense of the San Francisco 49ers also shined last week. MLB Patrick Willis led the team in tackles with 13 and also had 2 forced fumbles. FS Dashon Goldson had 4 tackles and a interception, while OLB Ahmad Brooks tallyed 4 tackles and a sack. The 49ers defense in total gave up 326 yards, 138 rushing, 188 passing.
The New York Giants are coming off their biggest win of the season a 24-20 comeback win over the Patriots on the road. QB Eli Manning showed a lot of poise throwing 20/39 for 250 yards 2 TD’s and an INT. RB Brandon Jacobs who has been disgruntled with playing time had 18 carries for 72 yards and a TD. WR Victor Cruz continues to fill in nicely and showing he wants to be a starter in the NFL. Last week Cruz had 6 receptions for 91 yards with a longest of 23.
The New York Giants defense got into Patriots QB Tom Brady’s head. They showed him pressure picking up 2 sacks, and playing some complex linebacker drop schemes that forced 2 interceptions. LB Michael Boley had busy game making 10 tackles a sack and a forced fumble. In total the New York Giants defense gave up 438 yards, 332 passing, and 106 rushing against the Pats.
My Prediction: There is no denying the San Francisco 49ers are playing amazing, and have seemed to be turned around by a head coach with a hugly bright future in Jim Harbaugh. However the New York Giants appear to be playing like they did when they were in championship form. Coming off a huge win in Foxborough, I don’t see how they cannot go into San Francisco and do the same thing making the +190 on the New York Giants a really sweet deal in my book.
