NFL Betting Review: Miami Dolphins vs Houston Texans
Interesting first matchup for the Miami Dolphins as they start their rookie QB Ryan Tannehill on the road against the mean pass rush of the Houston Texans. BetDSI Sportsbook current live betting lines display the Texans as huge -750 favorites giving -12 points to the Dolphins.
Miami Dolphins will have a new head coach Joe Phillbin who had been the offensive coordinator for the Green Bay Packers the past five seasons. He will be putting the ball in Ryan Tannehill’s hands after he beat out veteran Matt Moore and David Garrad who was released earlier in the week. Running back Reggie Bush will have to continue to show he can be an every down back and pretty much carry this offense as Tannehill really has no other weapons.
The Dolphins defense is a little better with the pass rushing skill of DE / LB Cameron Wake, linebacker Karlos Dansby, and young DT Jared Odrick. The secondary consists of FS Chris Clemons, SS Reshad Jones, Corner back’s Sean Smith an Richard Marshall
The Houston Texans on the other hand are loaded on both sides of the ball and looking to improve their all time record against the Dolphins to 7-0. RB Arian Foster is a stud when healthy and Matt Schaub is definitely one of the better QB’s in the game when he is on. It doesn’t hurt Schaub throws to one of the best receivers in the game Andre Johnson.
Houston’s defense has a few injuries on it but when healthy they are a nasty pass rushing unit. With J.J Watt , Antonio Smith combining for double digit sacks last season on just a three man line, it gives the Texans linebackers Brian Cushing, Connor Barwin, Braide James, and Brooks Reed lots of room to work.
The Miami Dolphins new head coach Phillbin along with his rookie QB is going to have a rough first outing. Look for a blow out as the Houston Texans are scoring machines and the Dolphins just do not bring much to the table, and have little hope of keeping it close.
