NFL Monday Night Football Steelers Vs Bengals Betting Prediction
Tonight’s Monday Night Football match-up has the Pittsburgh Steelers traveling to take on the Cincinnati Bengals. Both teams are trying for their first win of the season in week two so one of these teams will be in quite a hole to start the year.
The Pittsburgh Steelers really started out the season rough losing to the Tennessee Titans 16-9. They finished last or close to it in just about every meaningful offensive category but the defense was solid as you would expect from a Steelers D giving up just 229 yards in week one.
QB Ben Roethlisberger had a rough first game of the season going 21 of 33 for just 191 yards a touchdown and an interception. The running game was absolutely non-existent with Isaac Redman running 7 times for 8 yards and Larod Stephens-Howling running 6 times for 19 yards. It was like the life of the team was drained quite a bit when Pro Bowl center Maurkice Pouncey had his leg hit and injured by a teammate on a missed block. Pouncey will be gone for the season an absolutely huge blow to the Steelers.
The Cincinnati Bengals let a game slide they could have won in losing to the Bears 24-21 in week one. Cincinnati is poised for a big year with the way Andy Dalton played going 26 for 33 for 282 yards two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Bengals first game of the year. Dalton quickly got back to making good tosses to his young receiver A.J. Green who is an absolute play-maker. Green finished the day with 9 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns against the Bears.
The running game wasn’t terribly effective for the Bengals in week one, but it wasn’t for a lot of teams as only three teams ran for over 100 yards in their first game of the season. What did work good for the Bengals was their ability to effectively use two tight ends in Jermaine Gresham who had 5 catches for 35 yards and rookie Tyler Eifert who had 5 receptions for 47 yards.
While the Cincinnati Bengals are a clear favorite for a reason, I am not so quick to toss aside the Pittsburgh Steelers season. The Steelers are just really a great price here at +215, they still have a great QB in Ben Roethlisberger, a cable defense, and a good coaching staff so I will gladly take over 2-1 on my money against a young Bengals team who will still have mistakes time to time.
