NFL Preseason Betting Predictions: Indianapolis Colts vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Tonight we get to see what everyone has been clamoring for all week. The second preseason game of Andrew Luck after his great performance his first time on an NFL field. Luck and the Indianapolis Colts will travel to take on the always tough Pittsburgh Steelers in a matchup BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines display the Steelers as -190 favorites giving up +4 points to the Colts.
The Indianapolis Colts played their rookie QB Luck a little longer than most would of anticipated allowing him 16 attempts in their first preseason win against the St. Louis Rams, Luck completed 10 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns. Indianapolis however did not amount much of a rushing attack relying on a committee of backs.
Indianapolis also played good defense in their first matchup allowing just three points. Defensive end Jerry Hughes showed he wants to make the team with four tackles and two sacks, and defensive back Chris Rucker snagged an interception an ran it back 31 yards. DB’s Justin King and DJ Johnson led the team in tackles with King making six and Johnson five.
The Pittsburgh Steelers lost their first preseason game 24-23 to the Philadelphia Eagles. Starting QB Ben Roethlisberger was held by his coach to just 8 attempts as he had been sacked twice and they seen enough. Roethlisberger completed 7 passes for 49 yards, his longest pass went 17 yards. Pittsburgh continuously tried to pound the rock on the ground to no avail.
The defense in Pittsburgh is always notoriously tough, they ended up finishing the game with a sack by DT Steve McLendon and an interception returned 53 yards by another DT Al Woods. Rookie linebacker Marshall McFadden led the team with four tackles, and a bunch of other Steelers defenders were tied at three tackles a piece.
Preseason Betting Prediction:
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a tough team to beat anytime of year, especially at home. This will be a great time to see where Andrew Luck is as a rookie against such a good defense. I will be taking Steelers at -4 over the Colts as rookie QB’s often have a tough time in Pittsburgh.
