Off a nice 3-0 week in the NFL and looking to continue the momentum of what has been a profitable football betting season thus far.
10:00 AM Pacific: Cincinnati Bengals (40) at Baltimore Ravens (-6.5)
I’ve pretty much given up trying to figure out the Baltimore Ravens, but I am comfortable in that the Cincinnati Bengals are a solid football team. The two 6-3 teams meet Sunday in Baltimore to see who stays right with Pittsburgh and who falls behind. Baltimore isn’t amazing me of late going 2-2 and the two wins were each by a field goal. Spotting -6.5 here seems wrong with the road warrior Bengals coming to town. Cincinnati is 4-1 on the road this season and despite losing last week to Pittsburgh they showed the character of a good team. I am concerned that the Bengals injuries may be a factor, but this is the time of year that all teams have to work around missing bodies. Joe Flacco has struggled mightily against Cincinnati in the past (2 TD passes, 9 INTs, sacked 11 times in his past 4 vs Bengals) and his recent form doesn’t suggest he’s due for a breakout.
I will be betting on Cincinnati +6.5
10:00 AM Pacific: Dallas Cowboys (-7) at Washington Redskins (41.5)
There is much to be said for home field advantage in the NFL, more so in inter-division game and perhaps even more when it is the Cowboys and Redskins playing. While the Cowboys have run off 2 straight wins and find themselves back in the division picture, they won both of those games at home and the opposition was Seattle (a team that does not travel well) and slumping Buffalo team that has lost 3 of 4. I appreciate that Washington has dropped 5 in a row and they are anything but a sexy team such as the Cowboys. Still, they play tough and I feel are a better team with QB Grossman under center. Redskins ground game should keep them in this game as Dallas run defense has been terrible the past 3 weeks. Cowboys are 1-3 on the road and I expect this game to be a tight one with both teams eating lots of clock on the ground. I’ll take the TD with the home side here and if the line goes to +7.5 -115, I would definitely grab that.
My wager is on the Washington +7
Teaser Time: 3-Team 6.5-point Teaser +160
Three dogs here who I feel have the potential to win outright but all are on the road so that has me backing them off of straight bets and putting them in my teaser. For all their defensive woes Buffalo Bills are still a very explosive offense and they should be able to trade with Miami here. Cleveland offense doesn’t worry me much, the Jacksonville defense is solid and they still key everything on offense behind a very good running game. Finally, Seattle, a gritty team that doesn’t travel well but is likely bubbling off their win at home to Baltimore last week.
Three Team 6.5-Point Teaser +160: Buffalo +8.5, Jacksonville +7.5, Seattle +9.5
