NFL Week Three Betting Prediction: San Diego Chargers Vs Tennessee Titans
The San Diego Chargers and Tennessee Titans both go into their week three match-up together at 1-1 and looking to turn a corner for the rest of the year. Both teams also looked really good in their last game with the Chargers coming off and impressive win and the Titans losing an overtime heart breaker.
The Chargers offense was literally unstoppable in week two against the Philadelphia Eagles. San Diego only had to punt once during a game with tons of offensive fireworks. QB Phillip Rivers threw 36 completions on 47 attempts good for an impressive 419 yards and three touchdowns. Running back Ryan Matthews ran 16 times for 73 yards including a 20 yard gain.
Rivers connected with 9 different receivers in a game it seemed it was playing catch in the backyard. Tight end Antonio Gates showed he has plenty left in the tank with 8 catches for 124 yards. Malcolm Floyd had 5 grabs for 102 yards but it was Eddie Royal with 7 catches 90 yards and a whopping 3 touchdowns that lit up the scoreboards for the chargers.
The Tennessee Titans hung tough till the end against the Houston Texans losing in overtime 30 to 24. QB Jake Locker barely completed half his passes going 17 for 30 with only 148 yards but it was good for two touchdowns with no interceptions. The running game wasn’t very electric as Chris Johnson ground out 96 tough yards on 25 carries.
It’s clear the Titans need a play maker , someone to stretch the field. WR Kenny Britt never developed into the home run threat people though he would and Kendall Wright led the team with 7 catches for only 54 yards. Nate Washington is somewhat of a deep threat as he did have 3 catches for 50 yards against the Texans.
After the crazy offensive output of the San Diego Chargers in week two I am very surprised to see them just a field goal favorite over the Titans this week. The Titans just simply do not have the play-makers that the Chargers have and it will be hard for them to keep up with a confident Phillip Rivers and Chargers offense. Take the San Diego Chargers over the Tennessee Titans by a field goal this weekend.
