There are just four games on the card for Wednesday night but we’ve got you covered with previews for every contest. Turns out it will be the quietest day of action on the ice this week.
Here is a look at the NHL betting card along with picks for each game:
Ottawa Senators @ Toronto Maple Leafs
Odds: Maples Leafs -160
The Ontario rivals are tied on 28 points as they prepare for their third meeting of the season after splitting the first two with the home team winning each time. The Sens have actually won three of their last five trips to Toronto, but they’ve lost three in a row as they’re starting to lose steam and their injury issues may be catching up with them, while the Maple Leafs have won two straight. Give the edge to the home team once again in the “Battle of Ontario”.
Pick: Maple Leafs
Colorado Avalanche @ Chicago Blackhawks
Odds: Blackhawks -230
The ’Hawks still haven’t lost in regulation this season and are 21 points ahead of the Avs in this matchup of two teams in the second half of back-to-backs: Colorado will be in Detroit on Tuesday night, while the Blackhawks host Minnesota. The Avalanche have actually won six of the last eight meetings between the two Western Conference clubs as they prepare for their first meeting of the 2013 regular season, including three of the last five in the Windy City, but with the way the ‘Hawks are playing right now, it would take a lot to beat them right now and the Avs just don’t have the firepower to keep up, especially on the road. Take the Blackhawks on the betting lines.
San Jose Sharks @ Calgary Flames
The Flames could have a slight edge in this contest as they’ve been off since Sunday, while the Sharks are in Vancouver on Tuesday night, so Calgary would have to jump on them early. San Jose has won three of their last five at the Saddledome, but they have cooled off drastically after winning their first seven games (including a 4-1 win in Calgary), dropping nine of their next 12. This is a huge chance for the Flames to make a move towards the postseason, but can you trust them to take advantage of their opportunities?
Phoenix Coyotes @ Anaheim Ducks
Odds: Ducks -160
For all the attention being paid to the Blackhawks, Anaheim is holding court in second place in the West despite going back and forth between their goalies. The Coyotes are no slouches either and are a tough game for any team in the league, and they’ve won three of their last five in Anaheim. The Coyotes have also won two games against the Ducks this year in Phoenix and even though the Ducks would love to avenge those losses, sometimes one team just has another team’s number and that seems to be the case with this matchup, so roll with the ‘Yotes to make it three wins in three games against the Ducks.
