BetDSI’s current NHL Playoffs series betting lines display the Pittsburgh Penguins as large -220 favorites over the Philadelphia Flyers listed at +190. This should be a great series with a large history of back and forth postseason battles between the two franchises. This year it will be driven by huge star power with two Hart Trophy candidates on each team, Evgeni Malkin for the Penguins and Claude Giroux for the Flyers. Throw in Sidney Crosby, Jaromir Jagr , and a pair of great goaltenders you got a heck of a lot of talent on the ice, and an awesome matchup.
The Pittsburgh Penguins are such a deep team in the Forwards department with Malkin who easily won the Art Ross Trophy and reached 50 goals for the first time in his career, Crosby who has been hot after coming back from a 40 game concussion layoff in march, and James Neal put up a 40 goal season.
They also have a great two way player Kris Letang who runs the power play nicely with some precision passing and athleticism. However with that said if you were going to pick a weak point on this team it would have to be their defense.
The Philadelphia Flyers have a nasty group of Forwards and feature a double digit scorer on each line. The top three guys being Claude Giroux, Scott Hartnel, and Jaromir Jagr. Giroux was in in contention for the Art Ross Trophy and also the Hart Trophy. Hartnell is up there with the league scoring leaders for goals and power-play goals, and at 40 Jaromir Jagr can still score. Philadelphia’s defensive unit is not very offensive minded but rather a hulking physical unit including top pair Braydon Coburn and Nicklas Grossmann.
Series Betting Predictions: The Pittsburgh Penguins are heavy favorites however the Philadelphia Flyers play very physical hockey and will prove a very tough series for the Penguins.
