ONE FC Announces Second Card – Good Luck Betting These!

Bob Sapp puts in another appearance, cashing another check. But is he there to fight?

The complete card for Singapore based ONE FC’s second show, dubbed ‘Battle of Heros’ was recently released.  The organization has scheduled February 11th for Jakarta, Indonesia for the event, and the card is a heavy on Asian talent.  The main event of Rolles Gracie taking on Bob Sapp is not worth the paper the contract is signed on, but I guess it may have appeal to a newer audience.  The undercard features local Indonesian talent, while Korea, Japan and Taiwan are joined by the USA, Australia, Brazil and New Zealand in being represented on the international card.

Man I would hate to be an oddsmaker for this show!   Don’t get me wrong, I hope ONE FC succeeds and that they are able to mine places like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and other far eastern countries for new MMA talent.  These countries have traditions of combat, and it will be great to see new talent develop and for there to be real competition that nurtures the growth of the sport.  But for this one card, it is going to be difficult to make real odds.

As I alluded to earlier, ONE FC’s credibility really is affected by the Sapp vs Gracie main event.  Sapp is fresh off a tour of Croatia, Slovakia, Abu Dhabi and Austria where he went 1-3.  His prostituted record is now at 11-9 and don’t expect him to beat Gracie.  Sapp is years and years removed from any relevancy.

And Rolles Gracie?   Though he owns a respectable 5-1 record, Rolles isn’t exactly the top shelf of the Gracie family.  I look for Sapp to KO Rolles in the opening minute, or for Rolles to weather the storm and win as Sapp tires to the point of death.

But what do I do with a bout like the Featherweight bout between Victorio Senduk and  Raymond Tiew?  The ONE FC website says they both have some MMA experience, but it is hard to find for a westerner right now.  I have a feeling it will be a memorable fight.

After seeing the first ONE FC card, I trust they will have some solid, competitive matches on this card like they did on the first event back in September.  ONE FC should stop blowing money on things like the Gracie-Sapp circus, and concentrate on expanding the series of events.  I want to get to know the talent that may be coming out of Asia in the next decade.
