Ravens Face Tough Test Against Home Favorite Broncos In Divisional Round
The Baltimore Ravens face a huge task in trying to defeat the Denver Broncos who hold home field advantage and are being led by star QB Peyton Manning who has been on fire. Playing a tough Wild Card round against the Indianapolis Colts who they defeated 24-9 has BetDSI Sportsbook sporting the Ravens as huge underdogs going into Denver.
Baltimore’s win over the Colts was a closer game than the score would indicate, and Ravens fans sure were not thrilled going into halftime with only a 10-6 lead. Joe Flacco didn’t play amazing but he did play good enough to get the win going 12/23 for 282 yards and two touchdowns. Flacco really turned it on in the final half of the game throwing some long strikes to WR Anquan Boldin who had 5 cathces 145 yards and a score.
The Baltimore running game was very affective running for a combined 173 yards with Ray Rice 15 carries 70 yards, and Bernard Pierce 13 carries 103 yards. Coupled with the Baltimore stout defense fired up by Ray Lewis stating this was his last season it was just too much for Indianapolis to overcome. The Ravens didn’t let up a single touchdown to the Colts and had 3 sacks, an interception, and a forced fumble on the day.
The Peyton Manning led Denver Broncos won 13 games in the regular season with Manning looking amazing ending the regular season with a 105.8 QB rating. Peyton completed 400 passes on 583 attempts for 4,659 yards and 37 touchdowns to only 11 interceptions ( 3 of which he threw in just his second week back from injury in a really bad game). Running back Willis McGahee hasn’t been spectacular but in a pass first offense he’s managed 731 yards on 167 carries good for 4.4 yards per rush.
Denver’s defense has been as stout as ever allowing just 18.1 points, 290 yards, 199 passing, and just 91 rushing per a game, all ranking within the top four of the league. Second year linebacker Von Miller has had a remarkable year with 18.5 sacks and Elvis Dumervil has also been terrorizing QB’s with 11 sacks and six forced fumbles on the season.
Even with the spread set at Denver -9 ½ it is impossible to select against them in this match-up. The Ravens have been vulnerable in the passing game with their best CB Ladarius Webb was lost to injury, and as good as Ray Lewis has been in his career, he has been a liability in the passing game as of recent years.
Joe Flacco struggled against a less than stellar Colts defense, a defense the likes of the Denver Broncos will absolutely chew him up. Look for the Denver Broncos to easily cover in this game and make their way to the championship round.
