Super Bowl Total Betting: Will The Super Bowl 47 Go Over Or Under?

We’re in the thick of the final week of football and betting on the Super Bowl can be quite hectic with so many options out there. While many people have examined the side for this game, let’s look at the total and see where the play is.

Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, February 3rd – 6:30 PM ET

Superdome– New Orleans, LA

NFL Football Betting Odds: Total of 47

Why This Game Will Go Over

Both offenses have the potential to go off at any time, and the two quarterbacks, Baltimore’s Joe Flacco and San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick, have the highest QB ratings in the postseason so far. Throw in Kaepernick’s single-game rushing record and you have a pair of systems that can light you up if you’re not careful. Both teams have strong rushing games led by productive running backs (Baltimore’s Ray Rice, San Francisco’s Frank Gore) and the passing games incorporate all aspects of attacking a team through the air. Both can go underneath to RBs or TEs, they have physical possession receivers and they also have deep threats that can stretch the field.

Why This Game Will Go Under

The 49ers did have the #3-ranked defense in the NFL during the regular season and even though they’ve given up some points in the postseason, they can still make plays when they need to. The same goes for the Ravens, who are a little older on this side of the ball and they’ve been ravaged by injuries all season, but they’ve been brilliant in the playoffs, even in giving up 35 points to Denver on the road in double overtime. Both defenses have their issues, but when they batten down the hatches, have everyone healthy and execute their gameplans, the Ravens and 49ers can shut down anyone in the NFL.

Outlook & Pick

The total for this edition of the Super Bowl is 47 points, and the Ravens went over the total in eight of their 16 regular-season games (one game ended in a push), but two of their three games in the playoffs have gone under the total. The 49ers went over in nine of their regular-season games (again, one ended in a push), but since they switched from Alex Smith to Kaepernick, the offense has hit another gear; nine of their last 10 games have gone over the posted total and remember, they hung 45 points on Green Bay.

This game has shootout written all over it and the winner of the game will need their defense to make a couple key plays in order to swing the outcome. Turnovers will be a factor and whoever wins that battle will likely win the game, but when it comes to points scored, both of these offenses are rolling and they are going to put them up on the board. Bet the over on Super Bowl XLVII.

Pick: Over 47 points
