“Cyborg” Justino Rolls At Invicta 11

The Invicta 11 event at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, Calif. last night had a Main event that lasted about one minute, as Featherweight Champion Cristiane “Cyborg” Justino smashed Charmaine Tweet with a brutal string of punches.

For Justino, it was just what the doctor ordered in terms of needing a big win to get the hype wagon rolling.  With how the state athletic commissions have been operating lately however, it could be up to a month or more from now that we know if Justino gets an “all clear” in terms of pre- and post-fight drug testing.  With her history with PED’s, it is a legitimate question.

It was announced that Justino will be the feature of an Invicta card scheduled for July where she will attempt to make 135 lbs again.  It is clear that both UFC Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey and the UFC are going to make her get to 135 lbs in order to get the fight.  There will be no two ways about it, Justino will not get any leeway.   Now it should be noted that “Cyborg” was the main event of Invicta 10 where the match was also to be at 135 lbs, and she pulled out.

Obviously if she cant make the weight, her own personal health should come first.  And after that, she is going to need to be clean on this and on her July post fight tests.  Keep in mind, in terms of weight loss, that many diuretics are on the list of banned substances.  UFC’s high brass, including owner Lorenzo Fertitta and President Dana White attended the Invicta show and it is a safe assumption that “Cyborg” was the main reason.  With UFC 184 featuring the two most anticipated women’s fights in UFC history in Las Vegas tonight, it is safe to say they went to see “Cyborg”.  With their own recent PED troubles, the UFC almost certainly is gonig to have to be sure about “Cyborg” on all fronts before moving to sign the match.

If all is well, the UFC needs to do the Rousey-Justino match as soon as possible, which would mean towards the end of this year assuming Justino fights in July.  This will give Holly Holm moe development time, rather than rushing her into the title fight with Rousey if she has a good showing this weekend.
