The Chicago Blackhawks Look to Hoist the Stanley Cup Once Again
As the Stanley Cup Finals return to Boston for Game 6, the Chicago Blackhawks look to close out the series in triumphant fashion by hoisting the Lord Stanley Cup once again. According to BetDSI Sportsbook current live lines, the Blackhawks are a +1.5 goal underdog in this match up.
The Hawks came as as aggressors in Game 5 and took it to the Bruins, not wanting to surrender home ice advantage. From nearly the opening puck drop, the Hawks attacked Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask, and held a two-goal advantage heading into the 3rd period. Despite a goal by Zdeno Chara, Boston could not muster much of a rush until late in the 3rd, where Hawks goalie Corey Crawford made several fantastic saves to thwart the Bruins’ desperate efforts.
Expect Boston to be in desperation mode to begin Game 6, and to also be inspired by the fans’ backing, as it is the Bruins’ final home game of the season, regardless of the outcome of the series. It remains to be seen how well Rask can recover from being battered for 8 goals in the past two games, but Boston will need its best skate from its four lines in Game 6. One side note for the Hawks, captain Jonathan Toews is probable for the game, after taking a brutal check from Johnny Boychuk of the Bruins in Game 5. Patrice Bergeron for the Bruins is also banged up after a collision during Game 5.
Patrick Kane scored both goals for the Hawks early, and Dave Bolland scored an empty-netter as the Bruins pulled Rask from the net to go with an extra winger. The Hawks had been getting along pretty well without much of a contribution from Kane, Toews or Hossa (which had to be encouraging for the team). Crawford appears to have gotten stronger in net, while Rask seems to finally be coming down from his otherwise all-world performance throughout most of the 2013 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
Close out games are often the most difficult, and with a chance to do so in Game 7 on their home ice, do not be surprised if the Hawks are unable to win this game. However, they proved that they can win on the road, with their series-best outburst with 6 goals in Game 4 in Boston. The Hawks are 10-3 SU in their last 13 games, and appear to have figured out Rask in the net, with their offensive outburst in the past two games. The solid play is Hawks +1.5 in this match up.
