The New York Giants Need A Win Against Eagles And Lots Of Help To Make Playoffs
The New York Giants have a very slim chance of making the playoffs. First they need to beat the Eagles who now has QB Michael Vick returning in place of injured Nick Foles. Then they need lots of help which includes the Dallas Cowboys to either lose or tie against the Redskins, the Chicago Bears to lose against the Detroit Lions, and the Minnesota Vikings to lose against the Green Bay Packers.
It’s not even a given they will beat the struggling Philadelphia Eagles since the Giants themselves have been in disarray as of late on a two game losing streak and winning only two of their last five. BetDSI Sportsbook currently has the Giants as a favorite by a touchdown against the Eagles who have been a disappointment this year.
The Giants lost in a must win situation badly last week 33-14 to a Baltimore Ravens team that was on a losing skid and struggling themselves. NY QB Eli Manning who has been known to be so clutch in big situations in the past didn’t do much going 14/28 for just 150 yards, but he did throw a touchdown and didn’t turn the ball over. Didn’t help that head coach Tom Coughlin near totally abandoned the running game, giving his electric rookie RB David Wilson only three touches on the day despite making 14 yard run for a touchdown. Running back Ahmad Bradshaw was contained well all day which he ended with 9 carries for 39 yards and one reception for another 8 yds.
New York’s defense was near non-existent as they made a struggling Ravens offense look like a group of superstars. Allowing Baltimore QB Joe Flacco to throw 25 completions on 36 attempts for 309 yards and two scores. They were also run ALL over with running back Ray Rice carrying 24 times for 107 yards, and allowing second string RB Bernard Pierce to rack up 123 yards on just 14 carries.
It is hard to predict how the Eagles will play this week due to Michael Vick starting at QB and him not playing since being injured in week 10. However Andy Reid and Michael Vick both will be playing to be seen by all the other teams in the league as their departure is all but written in stone. This team is still proud and will no doubt play with fire in a division rivalry match-up.
The Philadelphia Eagles at +270 against a struggling division rival that they usually have great success against winning eight of their last nine meetings. It is a line that is simply too good to pass up, and if you don’t like the possibility of the big payday then +7 for the Eagles just smells like money.
