Two Teams Desperate For A Win On Monday Night Football When The Eagles Visit New Orleans
Philadelphia Eagles QB Michael Vick may very well be playing for his job in a matchup that has BetDSI Sportsbook cappers listing the New Orleans Saints as a favorite at home. Both teams have had a very disappointing start and will need a win tonight to have any hopes of a miraculous turn around.
Last week the Eagles were soundly beaten at home 30-17 at the hands of the undefeated Atlanta Falcons. Philadelphia’s defense was shredded by Falcons QB Matt Ryan for 262 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles allowed a ridiculous 53% third down completion rate and gave up a total of 392 yards with 146 coming on the ground.
About the only good thing that could be said of the Eagles offensive performance against the Falcons is at least Vick didn’t have any turnovers. Throwing for 21 completions 191 yards and a touchdown he certainly didn’t light it up. LeSean McCoy who isn’t putting up the kind of number he had last season carried 16 times for 45 yards and a score.
Last week the New Orleans Saints were trounced 34-14 on the road by the Broncos. QB Drew Brees wasn’t as effective as usual throwing 22 completions on 42 attempts for 213 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. New Orleans didn’t run the ball much, Pierre Thomas led the team with 8 carries 43 yards.
The Saints running game usual comes via short passes to spark plug Darren Sproles. Against the Broncos he had 7 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown. However the 14 points the Saints offense put up will never be enough to win games with their awful defense which allowed 34 points by Denver.
Look for the New Orleans Saints to get a much needed win at home this week forcing Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid to field further questions about Vick’s future. Drew Brees is still playing great despite his team being in a sort of disarray without head coach Sean Payton serving a suspension. Look for Brees to have a big game tonight to earn his team the win. Take New Orleans -3 at home over the Eagles.
