UFC 134 Rio Betting Predictions: Yushin Okami vs Anderson Silva
This Saturday August 27th at UFC 134 Rio Brazil in the main event we will bare witness to a man you could make an argument in the case of him being the best fighter in the history of the sport, when hometown Brazilian hero Anderson “The Spyder” Silva (30-4) defends his UFC middleweight championship belt against tough Japanese fighter Yushin “Thunder” Okami (26-5). BetDSI.eu sportsbook currently have Anderson Silva a absolutely huge -515 favorite for this title fight.
Yushin ” Thunder ” Okami has fought and won fights against big names all over the world. The last fight he has lost came to Chael Sonnen back in October 2009 who could have been on horse steriods for all we know, as he has been caught by testing positive after his exciting fight with Anderson Silva, and just served a suspension for the said infraction.
After his loss to Sonnen, Yushin Okami has rattled off three wins in a row against : Lucio Linhares (TKO doctor stoppage), Mark Munoz (split decision), and recently ousted by the UFC Nate Marquardt. While he clearly does not win in spectacular fashion he certainly is effective at grinding out wins via great wrestling and ground and pound. Yushin Okami’s record speaks for itself and if he is not ” The best fighter to ever come out of Japan” as UFC president Dana White has stated, then you could definitely come up with a great argument as to why he is better than anyone else you could mention.
Since 2009 after his destruction of Forrest Griffin, UFC Middleweight champion Anderson “The Spyder” Silva has hands down been the #1 pound for pound fighter in the world by just about every major MMA publication you could think of. Before that the only person who has been close and eventually although very briefly surpassed him in the polls is UFC Welterweight champion George St. Pierre who simply does not finish fights. Silva has been destroying opponents, and making them look silly at times with moves that only action superstar Steven Seagal could teach. In “The Spyder’s” last match he caught great striker and top contender Vitor Belfort with an outlandish Charlie Murphy front kick followed by a few punches, upping his record of most consecutive and successful UFC title defenses (8), and his UFC record of most consecutive victories in a row (13).
The last time Anderson Silva lost a fight was in the beginning of 2006 against now challenger Yushin Okami by way of disqualification, as he had thrown an illegal upkick when Okami’s knee’s were on the mat. Yushin Okami was never really given the proper time to recover, and stated he could not fight on when pressed if he could continue with the match. This left Anderson Silva feeling angry saying he feels Okami took the cheap route to a win and clearly could have continued.
My Prediction: An angry determined Anderson Silva is the most destructive fighter ever in his weight class, and quite possibly the history of MMA. This does not bode well for Yushin Okami who Anderson Silva is not happy with after their fight years ago. I predict Anderson Silva comes in and puts the hurting on Okami in a big way, and anyone thinking Okami could beat Silva up in the ground and pounds like Sonnen. Just remember Okami is presumably not taking a substance used to make horses stronger.
No one has won a single penny betting against Champion Anderson Silva during his career in the UFC, all this being said if you are looking for a nice gamble of the night Yushin Okami at +365 maybe for you.
