Look for Rousey to be her usual massive favorite at the sport books, as McMann is 1-0 in the UFC and 7-0 in MMA. Despite on Olympic silver medal in wrestling, a credential comparable to Rousey’s, she has been workmanlike and methodical in her MMA career and not explosive and able to capture the public’s imagination like Rousey has. The best that can be hoped for is a Rocky-like performance from McMann, where she actually challenges Rousey and perhaps goes the full 5 rounds.
The Light Heavyweight matchup of Cormier and Evans is one to watch. Evans has defined himself as one of the premier Light Heavyweights this side of Jon Jones. His loss to Jones however, means he has to do something impressive to earn another title shot.
Evans is facing a tall order to impress against Cormier. The former Olympic wrestler has taken a methodical approach to the weight drop he has to do, and he came in at 224 lbs for his last Heavyweight bout, indicating he is on his way. If Cormier can successfully make the weight cut and is able to recover for the fight, he is going to be too strong and too dominant in all areas over Evans. A better wrestler, more rugged, probably a better striker, that is a tall order for Evans.
But how is the weight cut going to go for Cormier. He was a team captain at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, but did not compete because of kidney problems related to the weight cut to 208 lbs. That was more than 5 years ago, and that is 2 lbs more than he has to make here for the UFC. This is an open question that means the weigh ins are must see watching for the bettors on this fight.
