If you are placing wagers on this event then you definitely don’t want to miss it when airing for free on Versus. This card is the first UFC event taking place in Washington, D.C and will be held at the Verizon Center. Schedule to have you butt in front of the T.V. at 9PM ET this Saturday so you can watch your fighter cash you in some big money. Use my UFC Live: Cruz vs. Johnson MMA betting picks below to make sure you’re shouting for joy and not crying in disappointment.
Dominick “Dominator” Cruz (-420) vs Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson (+320)
Cruz looks all but unstoppable after besting Uriah Faber, the only man to have ever beaten him, in his last outing. This guy comes across cocky and confident, but for good reasons. He learned from that first and only loss and made the necessary improvements to so far not be beaten again. Johnson has what it takes to be a champ…but it’s too early in his career for MMA betters to lay their money on him. He hasn’t gone up and beaten the kind of fighters Cruz has. Although Johnson has a dangerous set of skills and lots of potential, he lacks the experience that Cruz has.
UFC Betting Pick: I am going with Cruz all the way. I see these fighters grinding it out to the very last round with Cruz winning by unanimous decision or TKO.
Pat “HD” Barry (-185) vs Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve (+155)
Both fighters strike using Kick-Boxing and Muay Thai styles, but on the floor Stefan has the advantage with his Purple Belt BJJ skills. Struve has 2 wins via submission and has only been submitted one time. Barry on the other hand has no wins via submission and has been submitted twice. Although Barry definitely packs more power behind his punches, Struve still has a good chance if he takes the fight to the floor. Even though “Skyscraper” is the much younger fighter; he has more MMA and UFC expedience over Barry so that will come into play as well.
UFC Betting Pick: Pat Barry to win before the 3rd round via KO.
Here are the odds and quick picks for the rest of the main card:
CHARLIE BRENNEMAN +160
ANTHONY JOHNSON -200
Go with Johnson, he is said to be one of the best up and comers by fighters and fans alike.
MAC DANZIG +175
MATT WIMAN -215
This is a rematch, Matt beat Mac at UFC 115 on June 12, 2010 via Technical Submission (guillotine choke) in the 1st round. The ref stopped the fight although Danzig never lost consciousness so there is controversy surrounding the result. I’m going with Mac Danzig the underdog as he is coming off a 1st round KO win over Joe Stevenson.
