The co-main event on UFC on Fuel TV pits 2 fighters with unique build and skill sets. Stefan “Skyscraper” Struve and Dave “Pee Wee” Herman are said to be “freak” fighters, and for good reason. Stefan, like his nickname implies, stands abnormally tall at 6’11’’ and has used his long limbs and wicked BJJ skills to score 15 submissions wins. Dave, standing at 6’5’’, is an athletic freak in that although he is a heavyweight, he can be very fast with his wrestling skills.
Here are the BetDSI Sportsbook MMA odds on this Struve vs Herman match-up:
STEFAN STRUVE PK+120
DAVE HERMAN PK-150
The odds are close, as they should be, and the odds makers did a good job of picking Herman as the betting favorite. “Pee Wee” is on a 3 win streak and has an overall better MMA record. He is less technical but more powerful. His strength, build and great wrestling skills should keep him from getting taken down. He has also never been submitted and exhibits stellar defense on the ground.
Struve is coming off a win over Pat Barry, but has been flaky in keeping a win streak going. He already has 4 losses by knockout and things don’t look good for him going up against Herman who has 15 wins via knockout, ouch.
UFC on Fuel TV Betting Pick: Some people are going with Struve the underdog, but I’d put my money on Herman as I don’t think Struve’s fighting style will match well against Dave’s.
If the Diego Sanchez vs Jake Ellenberger fight ends quickly, the co-main event can definitely steal the show. I see the Struve vs Herman fight earning either the Knockout or Submission of the Night award.
