Jim Miller will be headlining his second fight card in a row when he faces Nick Diaz this Saturday, May 5th in a likely title eliminator. The event starts at 5PM/8PM PT/ET and takes place in Miller’s home state of New Jersey from the Izod Center.
Let’s check out the UFC on FX betting odds over at the BetDSI Sportsbook:
NATE DIAZ PK+185
JIM MILLER PK-225
Jim Miller is the decent favorite and rightly so. He has won 8/10 of his most recent matches while Nate Diaz has only won 5/10. Miller has only been stopped by top title holders or contender:
Frankie Edgar (2006), Gray Maynard (2009) and Benson Henderson (2011). Although Diaz is on a 2 win streak, he has been very inconsistent with his wins over the last 3 years. Nate has shown improvements in his last fights but is that enough for you to lay your money down on him. If it was my money then my answer would be no.
Jim Miller has never been KO’d or submitted and every time he losses he goes on a 7+ winning streak. Since Diaz has only been submitted once and both fighters are BJJ Black Belts, I see this fight ending via decision or referee stoppage. There is no doubt that each fighter will be looking to end this fight and make a statement as the victor may get a shot at the winner of Benson Henderson vs Frankie Edgar.
Jim Miller is smart enough not to play into Nate Diaz’s game plan and if the fight goes to the floor Miller will be just fine. I give Miller the overall advantage in this fight and don’t see enough underdog betting value in Nate Diaz.
