Clay Guida (right) gets to fight in his hometown of Chicago as he makes his 145 lb UFC debut.

This weekend’s UFC on FOX 6 event scheduled for Chicago’s United Center has several bouts on the undercard that feature well known fighters in good, hard fights.  Look for the lines to hit the sportsbooks here in the coming days for the complete card, however some of them are out there already.  Most notably, TJ Grant and Matt Wiman will square off in what is looking like a pick ‘em fight, and popular Clay Guida drops in weight class to campaign at 145 lbs and faces Japan’s Hatsu Hioki, which is also a real test.

It will be interesting to see Guida at 145 lbs.  This is his first trip to the weight class, but he was never a massive Lightweight and he has the potential to do very well.  He is a former top contender at Lightweight who never quite broke through for a title shot, so his motivations for dropping in weight are clear.

In Hioki, he gets an opponent who is tricky and flexible, but Guida has done well in the past with fighters who possess that skill set (see Nate Diaz, Anthony Pettis).  Look for Guida to use his high energy motor to take it to Hioki and try to pound him out.

Matt Wiman sits at -110 and TJ Grant at -120 so it is a dead even fight when it comes to the books.  Wiman is a guy who has made a living out of being underestimated, but Grant may not be the right time to start counting on Wiman.

Grant is a big 155 lber, and he has faced off against the likes of Johny Hendricks and Ricardo Almeida at 170 lbs and gone to decisions.  Hendricks haas been flattening people, but he didn’t take Grant out.  Grant has won his last three fights in a row and is looking to get on the radar with the casual fans.  He is entering his 4th year in the UFC, and Wiman is an exciting fighter who has gotten attention with several solid performances that earned him bonuses.  Grant needs this fight, and should take it.

It will be interesting to see if the line moves towards Wiman because of his popularity.  This may be a bet to hold off on until the last minute if your a TJ Grant bettor, just because you may get more value as bets come in for Wiman.
