Next December 15th the Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada will host the Finale of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ season 16, and the card features a main event of Shane Carwin and Roy Nelson. Now, the UFC is adding another heavyweight fight, this one between Pat Barry and Shane Del Rosario. It is a matchup of two stand up fighters, two bangers who are likely to slug it out in what UFC management and too many casual fans think is an exciting bout. Unfortunately with Barry, who has been a massive disappointment in his UFC career, and at 4-5 overall in the UFC, what can we expect but more of the same lackluster performances. Should he find his guts or fighter instinct, Del Rosario might have a fight on his hands. It will be interesting to see where the lines are set for this fight.
Del Rosario is coming off a loss in his last UFC outing against Stipe Miocic, but he looked decent and in some observers eyes he won the first round. He should be hungry to avoid a second loss and his stand up fighting is solid enough to stick with Barry. On the ground, Del Rosario will have Barry outclassed.
Barry has a ton to prove, and I am not sure he can do it. In his last appearance, he complained of the mental fatigue of being in the UFC, and he has not fought with real heart in most of his UFC appearances. he has lost to several inferior fighters, and Del Rosario, as mentioned, has a more complete game than Barry.
Pat Barry must come out and take Del Rosario out in resounding fashion. His stand up fighting is superior, he should be able to hit Del Rosario, and he needs to put out enough energy to get the job done. I’m not betting on it however, because his track record is bad.
Im hopin gthat Del Rosario comes in as an underdog, it would be action I would be all over. Barry has to perform, not talk, in order for me to believe in him again. This may be Barry’s last chance.
