On March 23rd the World Series of Fighting promotion puts on their second event in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The main event features Heavyweights, as former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andrei Arlovski takes on UFC veteran Anthony Johnson in a clash between two men that won impressively at WSOF 1. The rest of the card features solid if unheralded talent that the WSOF hopes will produce exciting matches for their debut on NBC Sports. Since it is a new group running the show, look for the lines to pop up on fight week. Let’s look at a gandful of the fights now that we are less than 2 weeks away…
The main event sees Anthony Johnson step into the Heavyweight division to face Arlovski, who is a lean and athletic true heavyweight. Johnson won his WSOF 1 fight at Lightheavyweight, but he has competed as low as 170 bls in his career and he will be a small Heavyweight. Look for Arlovski to come in the favorite for the fight, and barring some kind of fluke, look for Andrei to have his hand raised at the end.
The card has several other matches of note, including up and coming Featherweight Tyson Nam taking on Marlon Moraes and UFC veteran Josh Burkman facing Aaron Simpson.
With signings such as Jon Fitch and the potential for WSOF President Ray Sefo to step in the ring to back up their new NBC Sports contract, WSOF is a promotion that will likely be around for the short term future, and they will be around for the books to make lines on.
