Andrei Arlovski headlines the 5th World Series of Fighting event in September.

The World Series of Fighting runs it’s 5th show on September 14th from the Revel Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey and it features a headline fight between former UFC Heavyweight Champion Andre Arlovski and veteran Mike Kyle.  The company announced the complete card this week, adding 3 matches.  The card is non descript, as WSOF 4 featured company executive Ray Sefo and kickboxing phenom Tyrone Spong to bolster the card, but the lineup for WSOF 5 has some good fights.  The main card, which will air on the NBC Sports Network, also features the semi finals of a rugged tournament in the middleweight division.

The first fight in the Middleweight tournament pits Elvis Mutapcic and Jesse Taylor.  Mutapcic brings the typical aggressive eastern european game and is comfortable on the ground and a big swinger with punches.  Taylor is a veteran who has been in with top fighters over a long career – though game, he has failed to break through and beat a top guy.  Taylor is likely Mutapcic’s toughest test to date.

The other bracket pairs Danilo Villefort and Dave Branch in a bout that is very evenly matched.  Branch is best remembered for a cup of coffee with the UFC, where he went 2-2.  In the WSOF, Branch took out badly faded Paulo Filho to set up the match with Villefort.  In his first WSOF fight, Villefort earned a split decision win over Kris McCray, and Villefort’s career competition level compares favorably to Branch’s.  This will be a toss up fight.  WIth the winner meeting the winner of the Mutapcic vs Taylor bout in November.

The rest of the card features, well, the Gracies.  Rolles Gracie faces Derrick Mehmen, and the undercard gets Gregor Gracie versus Richard Patishnock as well as Neiman Gracie fighting Darren Costa.  It is not clear where they sit on the Gracie family pecking order here, but Gregor and Rolles are known quantities who have been resoundingly unspectacular in their MMA careers, while Neiman is making his debut at 24 years old.
